Short Version: To support published and unpublished writers at all skill levels in the state of Alaska.
Long version: Alaska Writers Guild is an organization supporting published and unpublished writers in Alaska. If you have written, are writing, or are thinking of writing, you want to be a part of this dynamic group! AWG meets monthly for fun, fellowship, and programs of interest to writers at all skill levels. This organization is designed to educate and inform beginning, intermediate, and published writers. Many people in the writing industry offer valuable information and contacts, which we endeavor to share in our monthly meetings and workshops. Members gain information and skills from experienced authors and speakers to form a plan of action or system of working with editors, agents, printers, publishers, bookstores, and public relations and marketing people.

The Alaska Writers Guild is open to all writers across our great state, with regular meetings (pre-COVID) available in three regions: Anchorage, Mat-Su, and Interior. Click on the links below for more information.
If you live elsewhere in Alaska, we welcome you to join us during our annual conference or drop in on any of these meetings if you are in town. AWG is exploring options to provide content that can be accessed online, with our first online meetings having taken place in April 2020. If you have other ideas, feel free to email them to us!
Our application period for the 2024 Board of Directors ballot placement is now CLOSED. Stay tuned for candidates; the ballot will be digitally distributed to the general membership on November 1.
